Annuals
Annual plants are grown from seed or rooted cuttings. Seeding machines
are used to sow seed into cells of seed flats. Most of the cuttings
come from Skagit’s own stock plants. These cuttings are inserted
into cells of the cutting flats by hand. Once successfully propagated,
these liners are then either sold to other growers or transplanted
into Skagit’s own finished pots for direct sale to garden center
customers.
Perennials
Perennial liners are started in much the same way as annuals.
The finished perennials are produced by transplant from liners,
purchased perennial rootstock, bulbs, or by tissue culture.
Skagit
historically has purchased its necessary material of production
from nationally and internationally known reputable suppliers of
the horticulture business, with whom Skagit Gardens has had long
term relationships.
We work hard to maintain a clean stock program resulting in plants
of "high health" for our customers.
